Spent $400 on a Pexto power hammer and it was a mistake. Or was it?

I picked up a used Pexto 2B power hammer at a farm auction last spring for $400. Thought it would speed up my drawing out work, but the thing eats up shop space and the clutch needs constant tuning. On the other hand, a buddy in Dallas got the same model and says it pays for itself in a month. Anyone here had a similar love-hate with an old Pexto?

Man you're overthinking a $400 tool. I've seen guys build whole gates with hammers held together with bailing wire and duct tape. Either it works or it doesn't, no need to write a novel about it.

Does anyone actually factor in what happens when that cheap tool fails mid-job though? I watched a buddy's harbor freight clamp snap and send a 2x4 flying into his truck window, cost him $300 to replace. Sometimes paying $400 now saves you $800 later.

...and my wife walked into the shop right as I was tuning that clutch and asked if I'd just bought a giant paperweight for four hundred bucks. I told her it was an investment, then spent the next hour trying to get the dang thing to not slam down on my thumb every third stroke. The thing does work when it's happy, but it's like a grumpy old cat that only shows up for dinner when it feels like it.
