I hear you @chen.casey, but honestly YouTube tutorials are better in a lot of ways since you can rewatch them and pause instead of hoping you remember one guy's five-second demo. Those old tricks are cool but half the time they're just workarounds for not having the right tool or material.

Reminds me how much practical knowledge just evaporates now. We watch a YouTube tutorial instead of asking the guy next to us. Saw it at the hardware store last week, this older guy was showing a kid how to fix a wobbly chair leg with a wax ring, something you'd never find in a manual. That flea market trick probably came from fifty years of doing it wrong and then figuring out the right way. Feels like we're losing those little hand-me-down fixes.
