My garage forge setup from ten years ago looks so basic now

I used to make do with old hammers and a makeshift anvil. These days, having a proper workbench and organized tool rack really helps me get things done.

Right? An upgraded setup is great, but sometimes I still miss my trusty old beater hammer.

Use the beater for rough tasks to protect your upgraded setup.

My 12 pound cross peen is still my go to for punching holes. That old weight just drives through hot steel where my nicer hammers would get chewed up. I keep it right on the rack for drifting or any heavy shaping. @jamie_white gets it, you still need that one beater you don't have to baby. Lets me save my good rounding hammer for finish work where it counts.
