My first attempt at a Damascus billet looked like a rusty brick, but after switching to a 3-pound cross peen for my final forge welds, the pattern popped like a photo in a book.
What hammer weight do you all find works best for drawing out those welds without killing your arm by the end of the day?

It's like finding the right kitchen knife, where the tool's weight just feels right in your hand.

Actually, a good kitchen knife is all about balance, not just weight. The handle and blade need to feel like one piece.

Oh man, here we go again with the knife experts. Next you'll tell me I need a different knife for every single vegetable. I mean, my ten dollar one from the store cuts things just fine, balance or no balance.
