Hot take: I thought a cheap propane forge was a waste of money
Bought a $200 one from a farm store on a whim, and after running it for three months, it's held up better than my old coal set-up for most general forging. Anyone have a good source for replacement ceramic wool that won't break the bank?

I was totally in the "propane forges are junk" camp for years, lol. My buddy finally talked me into trying one and I was shocked at how well it worked for everyday stuff. The convenience alone is a game changer. For the wool, check out the refractory supply places online, they usually sell it by the foot for way less than the forge kits charge.

Man, same here! I used to think you needed coal for any real work, but my old propane rig gets hot enough to weld with if you tune it right. That wool tip is solid too, I got a whole roll from a ceramics supplier for like a third of the price.

That's a solid find for $200. What kind of stuff are you welding in it? I'm still trying to get my flame tuned right for that.
