Hit 1000 nails in a single day last Tuesday, never thought I'd get there

I've been forging for about 3 years now, mostly making simple hooks and brackets. Last Tuesday I set up a new anvil and just started hammering out 4 inch nails from scrap rod. By the end of the day I had 1000 finished nails sitting in a bucket. I counted them twice because I didn't believe it. Has anyone else blown past their own expectations on a simple project like that?

1000 nails in a day sounds productive until you realize I can barely make 5 straight hooks without bending one into a pretzel, lol. My record for "simple project" was trying to make 10 matching drawer pulls and ending up with a pile of abstract metal art. At least your 1000 nails probably kept you from burning dinner for once.

Honestly 1000 nails is just muscle memory and repetition, not skill. Your drawer pulls sound way more interesting than a pile of factory rejects.

Honestly that's really impressive though. I can't imagine keeping up that kind of rhythm all day, my hands would cramp up after like 50. Good for you for actually sticking with it and hitting your goal, that takes real dedication.
