Trailer speed trick made my rewatch brain so much happier
I started watching season 3 of that detective show on a 1.2x speed setting just to catch up before a friend visit. Turns out I finished the whole season in about 6 hours instead of 8, and I actually paid more attention because my mind couldn't wander during slow shots. Now I do that for any show that drags in the middle, but I switch back to normal for dialogue heavy episodes. It's not for everyone, my partner hates it, but it saved me from dropping a series I normally would've quit. Anyone else mess with playback speed when a show feels padded out?
Reminds me of when I used to watch movies with subtitles on because my old roommate kept the volume low. At first it felt weird, but then I noticed I caught way more of the small stuff, background talk, jokes buried under music. Now I keep them on even with the volume up, drives my brother nuts. The speed thing makes sense to me for the same reason, your brain has to stay locked in or you miss something. I never tried it on a whole season though, usually just skip the intro and call it good.
