Took me 11 days to find out my subtitle file was off by 2 seconds and that's why I hated every show
So for about a year I kept giving up on shows 2 or 3 episodes in and I blamed it on slow writing. Turns out my TV was running subs around 2 seconds late and my brain was working overtime matching words to mouths, so everything felt off and boring. I finally clocked it last month while rewatching a detective show and the punchline landed way after the reaction shot, which was the tip off. Grabbed my remote, dug into the caption settings, and found a delay slider sitting at 2000ms. One nudge to zero and I binged 6 episodes back to back that same night. Now every time a show feels weird I check that slider first before blaming the writers.
