TIL the first episode of a show doesnt always hook you

I almost quit The Leftovers after 3 episodes cause it was so slow and confusing. But my buddy swore it gets insane by episode 6, so I stuck with it and yeah, that twist in season 1 totally changed everything for me. Has anyone else given up on a show too early and regretted it later?

The first three episodes of The Wire I was falling asleep during. My buddy just kept saying trust me, it pays off. By episode 6 I was all in and now it's my favorite show of all time. So glad I didn't quit because the way the characters connect later is something else.

You know, @riley_schmidt - that's exactly how I felt about Breaking Bad! Friend made me watch the first few episodes and I kept checking my phone. By season 2 I was hooked though, now I rewatch it every year. Funny how some shows just take a minute to click.

Nah man I gotta disagree on Breaking Bad. First episode had me instantly. The RV scene at the end of episode 1 was all I needed. But @aaronclark I get why people bounce off it, it's a slow burn for sure. The Wire I can totally see though, took me a whole season to realize I was watching something special.
