Sat through 6 hours of a Law & Order USA marathon in a Denver hotel lobby and finally got why my dad loves it
The clerk said they run it every Tuesday and I swear I watched a guy check in, drop his bags, and stand there for 45 minutes before he even went to his room, so what's the one show that hooks you like that in a random waiting room?
Something about a hotel lobby TV just grabs you by the brain and won't let go. Had the same thing happen to me last summer in a mechanic's waiting room, where some channel was running old CSI episodes back to back and I sat there two hours past when my car was actually done. The weird part is I don't even like that show at home, but stick me in a room with bad chairs and a remote I can't touch and suddenly I'm locked in. There's nothing else to do in those places, so your brain just latches onto whatever is on. My wife had to come get me and I'm still not sure I cared that the car was ready.
