Picked a 20-episode anime over a 6-season drama, my weekend disappeared
Last Friday I had two queues lined up: the new season of that big fantasy drama everyone won't shut up about, or a 20-episode anime called Odd Taxi that kept popping up as a hidden gem. I went with the anime because I figured I could knock it out in one sitting, and man, I was wrong in the best way. That show is paced like a thriller, every episode builds on the last, and before I knew it the sun came up and I'd watched 14 episodes straight. The drama is still sitting there untouched, but honestly I don't regret it. Has anyone else picked a shorter show over a hyped one and ended up way more hooked?

Hold on there. Watching 14 episodes in one night doesn't make a show a masterpiece, it just means you were bored or tired. Odd Taxi is decent, sure, but calling it a hidden gem feels like a stretch to me. I mean, it's a cartoon about a taxi driver walrus, and people are acting like it's the second coming of Breaking Bad. The real question is whether you'd have felt the same way if you watched it over two weeks instead of one sitting. Marathon watching tricks your brain into thinking everything is more intense than it actually is. Give it a week, then tell me if you still care about the story or if it just fades away like every other binge.
