Three watches is commitment, but @shane655 nailed it with subtitles. I missed half the slang first time through. The whole season is like learning a new language, then it's brilliant.

Did you try telling your wife the first season is like a slow drip? A buddy of mine gave up twice before it hooked him.

Did you try watching with the subtitles on? That was the game changer for me, because so much of the dialogue is mumbled or in slang. I also had to just accept that the first couple episodes are basically homework, once you get past that it starts clicking and becomes the best show ever.
