My watch party plan fell apart when the streaming app glitched out

I set up a watch party for six friends last Friday to finally start that new crime doc everyone's been raving about, complete with snacks and a group chat. About 20 minutes in, the app kept buffering and then straight up kicked half of us out with an error code. I spent 40 minutes restarting routers and refreshing while everyone sent memes about my terrible wifi, which honestly was pretty funny. We ended up just switching to a phone call and finishing the first episode on our own screens, syncing by counting down over speaker. Has anyone else had a watch party go sideways and found a better way to keep everyone together, or do you just roll with the chaos?

Yeah the phone call sync thing is honestly the move. Once tech fails, just ditch it and let everyone watch at their own pace.
