My buddy at work said something about old TV shows that got me thinking

I was talking with this guy Dave in the break room yesterday, he's like 60 years old and has seen everything. He told me that shows used to have way more episodes per season, like 22 or 24, and they had to make each one stand alone because people missed them on TV. That hit me different because I've been binge watching stuff like The Office and Breaking Bad where every episode flows into the next. Dave said that older shows had to hook you again every single time because there was no DVR or streaming. It made me realize how much the way we watch has changed how they make these shows. Now everything is a 8 episode mini series with a cliffhanger every 15 minutes. Anyone else feel like shows from the 90s and 2000s have a totally different rhythm than what's made today?

Yeah, I miss when a show didn't feel like one long movie.

The "one long movie" thing is exactly right. If you want to get into that old feeling again, pick a show like "Golden Girls" or "Cheers" where each episode has a clear start and end. You can watch them in any order and still get the jokes. That way you don't have to sit through 8 hours just to see if a mystery gets solved next week.
