Just hit episode 247 of One Piece and I'm genuinely surprised I made it this far
Tbh I started watching One Piece back in March just to see what the hype was about. I figured I'd tap out after like 30 episodes because the animation looked old and the story seemed too long. But somehow I'm at episode 247 now and I can't stop. What surprised me is how fast the arcs go by once you get into the world building. Has anyone else had a show where you thought you'd quit early but ended up deep in it?

Had the exact same thing happen with The Wire. I went in thinking I'd watch the first season because everyone said it was good but the crime drama setup felt pretty standard. Next thing I know I'm three seasons deep and trying to explain to my roommate why I'm crying over a guy named Stringer Bell. The pacing just sneaks up on you.

ellis.mia hit the nail on the head. The Wire doesn't grab you it grows on you. My advice is to just let it play in the background if you're on the fence. By season two you'll be hooked. By season four you'll be wrecked. Don't skip the intro either. That song sets the mood.
