Just found out The Wire only had 60 episodes total. Felt like way more.

I was scrolling through HBO Max last night trying to figure out what to rewatch. Looked up The Wire because I always hear people call it the best show ever. Turns out it's only 5 seasons and 60 episodes. I swear it felt like I watched double that. Every season packs so many characters and storylines. Makes me realize how much they crammed into each episode. Nothing wasted. No filler. Compared to modern shows that drag 10 episodes out for one plot point it's night and day. Anyone else surprised by how short their favorite show actually is?

Had a buddy who swore Mad Men was the longest show ever until I told him it was only 92 episodes total. He didn't believe me, pulled up IMDb on his phone right there at the bar. The look on his face when he saw the runtime was priceless, like I'd just told him Santa wasn't real.

92 episodes of quality writing feels longer, @henderson.wesley

Right there with you. It's wild how a show with no wasted scenes can feel so much bigger than its actual episode count.
