Just found out The Wire only had 60 episodes total
I was reading a breakdown on IMDb and saw that The Wire ran for just 5 seasons with 60 episodes. That surprised me because it felt way more sprawling and dense when I binged it last winter. How do shows like that pack so much story in so few episodes while others drag on for 10 seasons?

Right? 60 episodes is so short for everything that show covered. It feels like they did more with those 60 than most shows do in 150 episodes. It's crazy how tight the writing is, every single scene matters and nothing feels wasted. Really makes you appreciate a show that knows when to end instead of just milking it forever.

Plus @robin_roberts84, that show reused the same three locations better than most use forty.

Oh absolutely, @robin_roberts84. That show made me feel like I should go apologize to every show I've ever loved for wasting my time. I swear I spent more time watching a single season of some other series just trying to figure out what the heck was going on than that whole show took to tell a complete, satisfying story. I'm convinced the writers were secretly wizards or something because how else do you make the same three hallways feel like a whole universe? It's like my attempt at a two-minute dental cleaning that somehow drags on for forty-five minutes because I keep losing my train of thought. That show really nailed the "quit while you're ahead" thing in a way most of us could learn from.
