I gave 'The Bear' a second try after my brother said it was 'just about a kitchen'
I watched the first episode a year ago and turned it off, thinking it was too loud and stressful. My brother kept saying I missed the point, so I tried again last week and watched three episodes straight. The show is really about the people and the pressure, not just cooking. Anyone else have a show they wrote off too fast that turned out great?

The Bear is definitely more than a kitchen show, it's a family drama in disguise. I almost quit after the first episode too because of the yelling. Sticking with it for the third episode is where the characters really start to open up.

Stick with it, the yelling is just the pressure cooker before the real flavor comes out.

Actually the second episode is where it clicked for me, when Richie shows up at the house. That quiet scene did more than all the yelling.
