I forced myself to watch a show with bad reviews and actually liked it

Last week I was scrolling through Netflix and kept passing this show called The Imperfects. It has a 40% on Rotten Tomatoes so I never bothered. But I was bored and ran out of stuff to watch so I put on episode one. Honestly I was expecting it to be terrible but I got hooked by the third episode. The acting isn't great and the plot has holes but the characters are really fun. I ended up watching the whole season in two days. I guess sometimes critic scores don't match what regular people enjoy. Has anyone else found a show with bad ratings that they secretly loved?

Nah I gotta disagree a little bit here. A 40% score usually means something is pretty rough around the edges, not just "not prestige drama." I've watched plenty of fun monster shows that sit way higher than that because they're actually well done.

40% on Rotten Tomatoes is actually not that bad for a genre show like that. I think people get too hung up on scores these days honestly. Some of my favorite shows sit around that range because critics hate anything that's not prestige drama or whatever. The Imperfects is meant to be a fun monster of the week type thing, not Breaking Bad. So yeah you found a decent show, no need to feel like you're hiding a guilty secret or something.

Tara you actually kind of changed my mind here. I used to be one of those people who would scroll right past anything below 60% on Rotten Tomatoes and not even give it a shot. But a buddy forced me to watch Wolf Pack a few months ago which sits at like 45% and I had a blast with it. It was cheesy and the acting was over the top but it knew exactly what it wanted to be. The Imperfects probably has that same vibe where you just let the show be what it is and enjoy the ride. I think I've been missing out on a bunch of fun shows by being too hung up on those numbers.
