Got told my podcast recaps were too long and rambly, finally trimmed them down

Some guy in the comments said I spent 5 minutes describing a minor coffee shop scene in episode 3 of The Bear. So now I cut every recap to under 400 words and only mention stuff that actually moves the plot. Has anyone else had to adjust their review style based on feedback?

Wait, you cut them to under 400 words? That feels a little TOO short for a deep dive on a show like The Bear. I get ditching the five minute coffee scene, but some of those smaller moments actually build character or set up later tension. Like the scene where Richie is just staring at the forks - that feels pointless until you realize it's about him trying to find order in chaos. Your readers probably want to hear about those little details if they connect back to something bigger. Maybe aim for 500 words and keep one or two secondary moments that actually serve the bigger story.

Gotta say @jenniferw82, this feels like a lot of pressure for a show about a sandwich shop. It's a good show, sure, but are we really getting that deep into fork symbolism? People just want the fun parts and the drama, not a literary analysis of each napkin fold.
