Downloading the first 3 episodes before a flight saved my sanity
Had a 6 hour flight to Phoenix last month and figured I'd catch up on that new crime drama everyone's talking about. Problem was the plane wifi is trash and costs like $25. So I downloaded the first 3 episodes at home on my tablet before I left. Watched all of them on the plane without buffering or paying a dime. Now I do this for every trip longer than 2 hours. Anyone else have a go to show they save for flights?

Man I felt this in my bones. Just got back from a trip to visit my sister and her kids and that plane wifi was a joke, kept kicking me off every 10 minutes. Ended up just staring at the seatback screen thinking about all the shows I should've downloaded. You got the right idea. I started doing this with that survival show Alone, the one where they drop people in the wilderness with nothing. Watched three episodes on a layover in Denver and it made the whole wait fly by. Now it's my rule too, always grab a few episodes before I head out.

Four episodes of Alone on a two hour layover in Denver? That show is basically watching people starve and argue with a camera, I don't get the appeal. But I'm going to play devil's advocate here, @the_avery. Downloading stuff ahead of time is smart until your phone storage is full of half a season you never finished, and then you're stuck deleting old photos on the fly to make room. I tried that with a show about Alaska once, ended up watching maybe one episode and spent the rest of the flight napping anyway. My rule is the opposite, I just bring a book or stare out the window and let the boredom hit.
