Critic said my outdoor shots were too flat, started using a polarizer
Some guy on a hiking forum told me my landscape photos looked like they were taken through a wet paper towel. Threw a $40 circular polarizer on my lens and the difference in sky and water clarity was night and day. Anyone else have a cheap fix that changed their whole look?

Yo have you tried shooting in the golden hour more? I used to think I could fix everything in Lightroom but realized I was just making bad photos look less bad. Getting up earlier and waiting for that soft warm light made way more difference than any filter for me. It's annoying at first but once you see the results you wont go back. Pair that with a cheap tripod for sharp long exposures and you're golden.

Totally feel you on that, it's a game changer once you commit to it.

Oh man @parkera22 that golden hour advice is spot on. My buddy Dave used to shoot everything at noon and wondered why his photos looked like overexposed trash. He finally caved and got up at 5am to hike to a lake near us. Watching him mess with his polarizer in the dark and then nearly crying when the sun actually hit the water was hilarious. He never complains about mornings now.
