Binge watching used to be my weekend jam, now it's just background noise
I used to sit down Friday night with a bag of chips and actually pay attention to every episode of a show like Breaking Bad or The Office. But around 2 years ago I started just scrolling my phone while the TV played. Now I put on something like Stranger Things and I realize I missed half the plot because I was on Twitter or checking email. It's like my brain can't just focus on one thing anymore. I tried turning my phone off last week and it felt weird, like I was missing something. Has anyone else felt like their attention span got wrecked by multitasking during shows?

Used to think I was immune to this problem, but your post made me realize I've been doing the same thing for months now. It really sneaks up on you.

Wait, you mean I'm not supposed to have seven tabs open and three half-watched shows running at the same time while also texting my mom? My brain now treats a single episode like it's a boring lecture, gotta have something else to fiddle with or I start getting twitchy. It's gotten so bad that I tried the whole "phone in another room" thing and I swear I heard it whispering to me from the kitchen like a little demon. Honestly, at this point I'm half-convinced my attention span just packed its bags and moved to a different dimension.
