The silent editing trick in that 2008 Obama campaign video still works today

I watched that famous 'Yes We Can' video again last night, the one that hit 1 million views before that was even a thing. What grabbed me was how quiet it is. No flashy cuts, no music drops every 3 seconds. It's just people, a guitar, and a beat that builds slower than my crew laying shingles on a 100 degree day. That pacing made it feel real, not produced. I've seen 30 second clips on Instagram with more edits than that whole 4 minute piece. So I gotta ask, do we lose trust in a video when it's too polished? Is raw and slow actually the move now or did that only work because it was 2008?
