That influencer apology video got exposed as fake, and I fell for it completely

Last Tuesday I saw a creator with 2 million followers post a tearful apology about scamming followers out of $40k. I shared it thinking it was brave. Turns out the whole thing was staged to promote their new podcast, and the receipts came out within 48 hours. I deleted my post but the damage was done, my friends roasted me all week. Has anyone else been fooled by a scripted drama that was just a launch strategy? Feels like the line between real and manufactured is gone now.
