Stop copying viral formats without checking if the story is real first

I've seen three big accounts this week take a random tweet, slap a voiceover on it, and call it a breakdown of virality. One of them was literally a fake screenshot from a sketch account. We're teaching people the wrong lessons about why things blow up. I only caught it because I reverse searched the image and found the original post from 2021. How many of you actually verify the source before you dissect a trend? Has anyone else noticed this getting worse lately?

Did I really just spend 45 minutes last week trying to verify a story that turned out to be from a parody account? Yep, and I felt like a total idiot when I finally figured it out. The problem is these fake posts spread faster than the truth ever does, because the fake ones are usually wilder and get more shares. I try to check the source now before I share anything, but half the time the original post is already deleted or the account got suspended. It's gotten way worse in the last year or so, and honestly the apps reward it because fake drama keeps people scrolling. The worst part is when big accounts with lots of followers do it, because then thousands of people just believe it without ever checking.
