Saw a TikTok trend backfire on a friend at a local diner and it changed my strategy completely.

I was at Pete's Diner on Route 9 last Saturday having breakfast when my buddy tried to film a quick trend for his food review page. He wanted to get a shot of the waiter dropping off pancakes but the waiter was clearly not on board. The whole thing got awkward fast and the waiter actually walked off mid-shot. My friend posted it anyway thinking it would be funny but the comments tore him apart for being disrespectful. Now I always ask permission before I film anything in a public spot and I keep a much closer eye on body language. It's wild how fast the internet can flip on you when you miss a social cue like that. Has anyone else had a viral attempt blow up because you didn't read the room right?

Did your friend not see the waiter's face? That's a HARD lesson to learn. My friend Kelly tried to film a "secret menu" hack at a Starbucks and the barista just stared at her camera like she was insane. It went up on her page with this deadpan look from the employee and people completely SIDED with the barista. She got roasted for acting like the staff were props for her content and it took her weeks to recover her followers. Now she always asks if it's okay first, even if it "ruins the authentic vibe" or whatever.
