Finally saw why my DIY electrical videos were flopping - it was the lighting all along

I spent 6 months making electrical repair tutorials and couldn't get past 200 views, then a fellow creator in a critiqued my setup and pointed out my harsh shadows made everything look amateur. Switched to two softbox lights and one video hit 15k within a week because people could actually see the wire colors clearly. Has anyone else had a small technical detail kill their content without realizing it?

I mean, are people really THAT picky about shadows in a DIY video? Seems like if the info is solid, a few harsh shadows wouldn't make or break 15k views.

oh man, lighting is such a sneaky thing. i remember i was doing these little cooking demos and wondering why nobody could follow what i was doing. turns out my kitchen had this weird yellow cast from the overhead fixture and everything looked like it was in a fog. once i switched to a daylight bulb in a cheap lamp, people started commenting on how they could actually see the onions caramelizing. it's wild how something so basic can completely change the way people engage with your work.
