Everyone told me to chase trends, but my one quiet post blew up

When I started my art page, a big creator in my city said to just copy whatever meme format was hot that week. He said, 'Post a new reel every day, use the trending audio, and you'll grow.' I did that for two months and got maybe 50 new followers. Then, I got tired and just posted a simple picture of a painting I did of my dog, with a short story about how he got me through a rough patch last year. No trending sounds, no hashtag spam. That one post got shared over 2,000 times and brought in 15,000 new people. It seems like everyone pushes this idea that you have to be a trend machine, but for me, being real worked way better. Has anyone else had a quiet post go viral when the loud, trendy stuff flopped?

Totally get that. My most popular video ever was just me fixing a wobbly table with a stack of old coasters. No fancy cuts, no trending song. It hit a million views because I guess everyone has a wobbly table. The algorithm seems to love it when you accidentally solve a common, boring problem.

Why do we all try so hard to make perfect content? I used to spend hours editing, thinking that's what got views. Seeing @gracewebb's wobbly table video really changed my mind. It proves people just want a simple fix for an annoying problem they actually have. The fancy stuff doesn't matter if the idea itself is useful. I'm done overthinking my videos now.

Did you ever see that video my neighbor Linda made? She tried to film a tutorial on fixing her squeaky cabinet door. She spent all morning setting up lights and a tripod. The video turned out terrible because her cat knocked the camera over halfway through. She just uploaded the raw footage out of frustration. That messy, flopped video has more views than anything she ever made nice. It really drives home your point that people don't care about perfection, they just want the answer to their problem.
