A tech newsletter I read said Instagram's algorithm pushes reels with certain audio tracks. Your buddy probably just hit one of those trending sounds. Makes the whole thing feel less like luck and more like a system.

Oh man, that actually makes a ton of sense when you put it like that. It almost feels like the whole thing is designed to be a lottery for people who know the right tricks. I mean, it's kind of a bummer when you think about it because it takes away from the idea that anyone can just make something good and get lucky. But yeah, your buddy probably just accidentally stumbled into one of those magic audio tracks. Still, it's nice to know there's a reason behind it, even if it feels a bit rigged sometimes.
