My Instagram reel about fixing a leaky faucet got 50 views while my cat sneezing got 50k
I spent a whole Sunday making a step by step tutorial for a common plumbing fix. I used good lighting, clear captions, and relevant hashtags. It posted last Tuesday and just sat there. Then on Thursday, I posted a 7 second clip of my cat sneezing with zero effort. That one blew up overnight. I feel like I wasted a whole day for nothing. Has anyone else had a helpful, detailed post completely flop while a random one took off?

My detailed guide on pruning tomato plants got maybe a hundred views. Later that week, my dog tripping over a garden hose got shared everywhere. The useful stuff finds its smaller audience eventually, but the silly clips are just easier to watch and share. I stopped expecting the two types of content to perform the same. Now I just make both and don't stress about the numbers.

Ever see my buddy's video on patching a roof? Got like 12 views. Then he posted his kid trying a lemon for the first time and it went nuts lol. The internet is weird like that.

Seriously though, is that even a bad thing? Roof repair is important but it's boring to watch. A baby's funny face is instant entertainment. People just want a quick laugh, not a lesson. That's just how it works online.
