I thought posting 3x a day was the only way, then a guy at a gas station in Amarillo proved me wrong
I used to think the algorithm only fed accounts that pumped out content nonstop, so I was doing 3 posts a day for about 4 months straight and getting almost nothing back. Two Saturdays ago I stopped for gas in Amarillo and got talking to a guy who runs a tiny account about old trucks, just him and 900 followers. He said he posts once a week on Sunday nights and spends an hour replying to every comment, and his stuff reaches way more non followers than mine ever did. I checked his page right there on my phone and he was right, his last post had more comments than views on mine. I cut down to twice a week starting 3 weeks ago and my reach on those two posts is higher than any single post I made all spring. Turns out the replies and the saves matter more than the volume, at least for a small account like mine. Has anyone else here tried posting less often but actually sitting in the comments for an hour?
The comment section is where the real work happens, and most people skip it. I run a small page too and found that replying to comments in the first hour keeps the post floating in feeds longer, which matters way more than pumping out three posts nobody talks about. One trick that worked for me was asking a real question at the end of each post, something easy to answer like "what year was yours" instead of "thoughts?" My saves went up once people had a reason to come back and read the replies. The other thing is to reply to comments the next morning too, because a second round of activity can pull the post back up for people who missed it. Two posts a week with real time in the comments beats daily posting with no follow through every single time.
