I finally walked out of a conference in Austin last month because the speaker just kept saying 'engage more' without any real tips

The talk was on beating the Instagram algorithm and the guy spent 20 minutes saying 'build community' but never once mentioned hashtag strategies or posting times. After I left I started testing posting at 6am central vs 9am and saw a 40% jump in reach. Which side are you on - is the algorithm about real connection or just timing tricks?

Posting time is just a cheap hack that means nothing if your content is weak. The guys saying build community are actually right, you just didn't want to hear the hard work part. Timing tricks only work until everyone else catches on and then you're back to zero. Real connection is the only thing that keeps people coming back after the algorithm changes next month. If you need to chase the clock to get views, your posts probably aren't worth watching.

Yeah, "chasing the clock to get views" is definitely a sign you've peaked as a creator. Nothing says "authentic connection" like scheduling your heartfelt post for 2:37 PM on a Tuesday.
