I finally figured out why my reels kept tanking after the first hour
Turns out using the 'caption this' prompt was getting me flagged as engagement bait lol. Switched to asking a real question and my views doubled.

My buddy Sam had three reels die at 500 views last week for the same reason. He stopped writing "caption this" and just asked what people thought about his new patio, and it finally took off.

Totally get what @jordan694 is saying, my videos used to stall out when i begged for comments. Switched to just showing my garden build from start to finish and asking if people preferred the before or after, engagement went way up. That "caption this" prompt feels like homework, but asking for a simple opinion gets people talking without pressure. The algorithm seems to pick up on those longer comment threads too.

You ever see that pattern where asking for a simple choice gets more replies? Janac22 is right, it's like night and day. I tried the same thing with a video of my shed project, just asked if people liked the green or blue paint better. Got hundreds of comments arguing over color, and the video did way better than usual. Seems like those back-and-forth threads really feed the algorithm, like you said. Now I just pretend every video is a casual poll and watch the engagement tick up.
