I dropped $150 on a keyword research tool and it was a total waste for my small account.
I was convinced I needed pro-level data to plan my posts, but the tool's suggestions were way too broad and competitive for my niche. The posts I made based on it got less reach than my usual gut-feel stuff. Has anyone had a good experience with a cheaper or free tool that actually helps small creators?

Start noticing this pattern everywhere now. Last year I bought a fancy bread machine with all these settings and timers. I spent more time reading the manual and following the recipes than I did actually enjoying baking. Ended up going back to my old mixing bowl and a cheap oven thermometer. Same with those expensive meal planning apps my neighbor swears by. She spends hours inputting ingredients and tracking macros while I just throw together whatever looks good at the grocery store. Sometimes simple tools that match how you actually work beat the professional stuff with all the bells and whistles. Your gut feeling about your audience matters more than any expensive data set.

Ugh, that's the worst... I just use the free version of AnswerThePublic now. It's way more specific, @lane.cameron might be right about overthinking it.
