Hot take: Posting 3 times a day killed my engagement way more than posting once a week ever did
Everybody in here is always saying you gotta post constantly to beat the algorithm but I ran into the opposite problem. I spent like 6 months forcing out 3 posts a day on Instagram and my reach actually dropped by 40 percent over that time. It took me another 3 weeks of testing to figure out my audience was getting burned out from the sheer volume. When I cut back to every other day my likes and comments went back up within 10 days. I think people just scroll right past when you flood their feed with noise. Has anyone else had better luck posting less but with more thought behind each one?

Wait, you really think posting less is the answer for most people? I gotta say I had the exact opposite experience. When I dropped down to once a week my numbers just slowly died off like a houseplant I forgot to water. There is such a thing as too much noise for sure but three times a day sounds like you were just throwing stuff at the wall and hoping it stuck. Maybe the quality was slipping and your audience noticed? I post once a day minimum and my engagement has been pretty steady for like two years now.

Did you try swapping up your content style when you dropped to once a week? I cut back to three posts a week about six months ago and my engagement actually went up, but only because I started trying different formats like carousels and behind-the-scenes shots. If you just post less of the same stuff, yeah, people will drift off. Maybe test a few different post types before you settle on a lower frequency.
