Had to choose between Reels and TikToks for my art account and went with Reels last month
I run a small illustration page and after 3 weeks of daily Reels posts my reach jumped from 200 views to 4,000 on one piece. Has anyone had better luck with one over the other for sharing art?

From what I've seen other art accounts posting, Reels are way better for discoverability in the long run. TikTok can get you a quick viral burst but it fades fast. Instagram's algorithm actually pushes Reels to people who might follow you, not just random scroll-bys. Plus you can cross-post the same video to both platforms if you want to test which one sticks more.

I read somewhere that Instagram Reels have a longer shelf life because their algorithm keeps showing old videos if people keep engaging with them, whereas TikTok buries stuff after a couple of weeks. That difference alone makes Reels way more appealing for building a steady following over time, especially if you're a smaller artist trying to get noticed. Cross-posting is smart too, lets you see which platform actually sends you people who stick around versus just one-off viewers.
