Found out the hard way that Instagram hates links in captions

I spent 6 months dropping my store link in every single post caption and wondered why my reach tanked. Turns out a buddy who runs a local cafe in Portland showed me his analytics where posts with links got 60% less impressions. Has anyone else tested posting the link in comments instead to dodge the algorithm penalty?

Links in comments works way better, no doubt about it.

lopez.simon said it works way better and I totally believe it. My friend who sells handmade candles had the exact same problem with links in captions. She switched to putting the link in her comment right after posting and her impressions went back up within like two weeks. It was a pretty quick fix for her.
