Forgot to check my hashtag analytics for 3 months straight

Last month I was wondering why my posts kept getting like 20 likes max. I used to be a hashtag nerd, tracking which ones got me reach. Then life got busy and I just threw in the same 10 tags every time. Turns out Instagram changed how they rank hashtags back in March and my old ones were basically dead weight. Anybody else ever go on autopilot with their strategy and tank their numbers without noticing?

Yeah that "Wait Instagram changed how hashtags work back in March" hit me funny too. My buddy Mark runs a little local coffee shop account and he was telling me a month ago that he got totally blindsided by it. He posted his usual afternoon latte pic with like 15 hashtags and suddenly his reach just tanked. He said Instagram basically made it so you can only use like 3 to 5 hashtags now or the algorithm punishes you. He was all frustrated because he spent years building up this whole hashtag strategy and now it's basically useless. He had to go back and delete most of his old hashtags and start over from scratch.
