Update: I threw away $80 on a 'magic' smoke ring injection powder

Bought this stuff online after seeing a video where a guy swore it made a perfect smoke ring every time. Used it on a brisket last month, followed the directions exactly. The ring looked fake and the meat tasted like chemicals, like I'd injected it with liquid smoke. Total waste of a good piece of meat and the cash. Has anyone found a real method to get a consistent ring without gimmicks?

I've gotten my best rings just by keeping the temp low and steady, no water pan needed.

Remember that time my buddy tried smoking a brisket in a snowstorm? He said the cold air made the smoke stick like glue. What's the weirdest weather you've ever cooked in?

I read that keeping a water pan in your smoker and using real wood chunks helps a lot.
