Serious question, my uncle's pit went from black to silver in 8 weeks and I think I know why
He stopped mopping with sugary sauce and switched to a plain salt and pepper rub, so the creosote stopped building up on the lid. Anybody else seen a pit change color like that just from ditching the sugar?
