Pro tip: That $40 offset spatula from the hardware store is actually garbage

I was dead set against spending $80 on a proper turner for my brisket flips, thought I could just use a cheap paint scraper from Lowe's. After it bent on my second cook and I dropped a whole 14lb packer in the gravel, I finally caved and bought a real offset. Has anyone else had a cheap tool ruin a cook for them?

Man, I once tried using a bread knife to slice a ribeye and it looked like a crime scene.

You're acting like dropping a brisket in gravel is a tragedy. It sucks for sure but you rinse it off and move on. A bent hardware spatula is annoying but not worth $80 to fix.
