Why does nobody talk about how bad those pivot razors are for detail work?

I was cutting a client in downtown Portland last week and tried using one of those pivot blade razors on a tight neckline. Thing slipped halfway through and left a jagged line I had to fix with my trimmers. Took me an extra 10 minutes to smooth it out. Now I just stick to my regular straight razor for edges, it gives way better control. Why do barbershops stock those things if they're just gonna mess up your fade? Has anyone else had a pivot razor fail on them mid-cut?

Straight razors just give you that feel for the edge that pivots can't match. Once you get used to the control, those pivots feel like toys for beginners who don't mind fixing their own slip-ups.

One of my buddies almost took off a chunk of his ear with one of those pivoting razors because he was rushing through his morning routine. He didn't even feel it happening until the blood started running down his neck and he saw the gash in the mirror. Now he swears by a simple single-blade safety razor and won't touch anything with a fancy handle.
