Watched a regular customer go from patchy to clean in 6 months

I've got this guy who comes in every 3 weeks like clockwork. His beard was all uneven and thin on the cheeks when he first sat in my chair back in March. I just kept cleaning up the lines, pushing him to let the top grow, and using a boar brush on him between cuts. Yesterday he walked in and I barely recognized him because the sides finally filled in. Has anyone else had a client who looked totally different after sticking with a routine?

Isn't it wild how small habits add up to huge changes over time?

Tbh I half expected him to walk in with a full on lumberjack beard and start talking about axe throwing or something. Growth like that is basically a glow up without the dramatic montage. Probably good thing he stuck with it, I've seen what happens when guys give up halfway and end up looking like they lost a fight with a lawnmower. Must be nice to have that kind of patience, most people can't even commit to a gym routine for 6 months let alone a beard.

The patience angle always gets me, you know? I've got a buddy who tried the whole beard thing and bailed at like three weeks because his face looked like a sad Chia Pet. It's hilarious how people think it's just some passive thing you let happen, but really it's a test of willpower against the scruffy awkward phase. I swear half the guys I know would have cleaner faces if they just stuck it out past that patchy month one look. Your mileage may vary, but I'm with you on the gym comparison - discipline is discipline, whether it's for a beard or a bench press.
