Tried using a new clipper blade oil and it gummed up everything
I switched to some fancy clipper oil I found online last week because my usual stuff was out of stock. After 2 haircuts, my blades started dragging and making this awful noise. Took me an hour to clean all that gunk out with alcohol and a brush. Went right back to my old brand. Anybody else have a bad experience switching lubricants?

Yeah I learned this the hard way too. That "premium" clipper oil with all the hype usually has tacky additives or thickeners that turn into glue after a few minutes of heat from the motor. I stick with the basic white bottle Andis Cool Care now, it's cheap and never leaves residue. The good stuff is just mineral oil with a little fragrance and maybe a tiny bit of PTFE, anything else is asking for trouble. You're smart to go back to what worked, don't let marketing trick you into fixing something that wasn't broken.

Is it just me or does every "premium" clipper oil come in a bottle that looks like it belongs in a mad scientist's lab? I fell for that once too, bought some fancy stuff with a fancy name and a fancy price tag. After about ten minutes of cutting hair, my clippers sounded like they were grinding rocks. That fancy oil gummed up the blades something awful. Now I just use the same 5 dollar bottle of sewing machine oil I've had for years. Works like a charm and never leaves my clippers feeling sticky.
