Serious question, is anyone else tired of the 'just watch YouTube' advice for new barbers?
I overheard a guy at the supply store in Austin tell a kid with zero clipper time that YouTube was all he needed, and that's a fast track to butchering someone's hair. What's the best REAL advice you give someone starting out?

That "fast track to butchering" line is so real. People forget YouTube can't give you feedback or correct your hand position when you're holding the clippers wrong.

That whole feedback thing is key. My cousin tried to learn guitar from YouTube and developed a weird wrist flick that a real teacher had to spend months fixing. @the_mia is right, the screen just sits there while you get really good at doing it wrong. It's like practicing a speech in an empty room, you miss all the awkward pauses.
