Rinsing with cold water after a haircut doesn't actually close your pores...
I've been saying this for 2 years now since I took that anatomy course at community college, but guys still swear by it and I just don't get why everyone in the shop thinks it makes a difference.

Wait, are you seriously telling me you can't feel the difference when you rinse with cold water versus warm? I've been cutting hair for 8 years and I swear by it. Sure, pores don't actually open or close like a door, that's basic biology. But cold water definitely helps tighten things up temporarily, makes the skin feel smoother and less puffy. Plus it feels AMAZING after a hot trim, like a reset for your face. I'm not saying it magically seals your hair or whatever, but it's not just in our heads either.

lol @caleb262 you're really out here fighting the good fight for cold water rinses while the rest of us are just splashing whatever comes out of the faucet. I do the cold water thing too sometimes because it wakes me up better than coffee, but I'm pretty sure that's just my brain tricking me into feeling productive. The "reset for your face" part cracked me up though, because that's exactly how I describe it to my wife and she looks at me like I'm insane. Keep spreading the cold gospel, man.

I saw some dermatologist say the same thing once @caleb262, it's not just placebo.
