My barber told me I was fading too high and it changed everything

Old school barber named Rick at Dave's Barber Shop in Portland told me my fades were starting too high for most clients with round faces. He showed me to keep the guideline at the natural curve of the skull, not my usual spot above the temple. I fought it for a week but tried it on a regular named Marcus and he actually complimented the blend for the first time in months. Anyone else get feedback that felt like an insult but turned out to be the best advice?

Funny how that works. Always thought a higher fade was cleaner but a buddy of mine who cuts hair said the same thing about the natural curve rule. Took me a few tries to get used to it but now I see exactly what they mean. That little tweak really does make the blend look more natural especially on rounder faces. Sometimes the advice that stings the most is the stuff you actually need to hear.

@chen.casey read somewhere that the ear shape matters too, totally clicked after that.
