Just learned barbers actually have a faster infection healing rate than doctors thought

I was reading through some old barber magazines my mentor gave me. Found this study from 2019 that said barbers have a 40% lower infection rate from nicks than the average person. Something about constant exposure to sanitizers building up our skin's resistance over time. Kinda makes sense since I've had way fewer issues after 8 years of doing this. Has anyone else noticed their hands just don't react to cuts the way they used to?

Wait, does that mean my hands are basically super immune now or just permanently pickled from all the alcohol spray? lmao

Nah I see it differently honestly. Your hands aren't pickled, that's not how alcohol works on skin. It just dries them out and kills surface bacteria for a few seconds. But like, the whole "super immune" thing? Idk, that's not really a thing either. Your skin has its own natural bacteria that help protect you and hand sanitizer kinda nukes all of it, good and bad. It's not making you stronger, it's just stripping the top layer. Maybe it's just me but I feel like people oversell what hand sanitizer actually does.
