Honestly, I used to think those cheap plastic guards on my clippers were fine. My buddy in Charlotte said to switch to the metal ones, so I did. The difference is crazy.

Yo, that's a huge upgrade for sure. @charles_kelly43 is right about the weight, it just feels more solid. So when you say it keeps your lines sharp, is that mostly because the metal doesn't bend, or does the actual cut feel different too? Like, does the guard sitting flush against your skin change how the clipper blade moves?

My old plastic guards lasted me over six years without a single crack or warp, so I still think plastic has its place for the price. The metal ones feel nice but I find them heavier than I need for everyday cuts.

Your buddy gave you solid advice. The metal guards are way more durable and they don't warp over time, which keeps your lines sharp. I learned that the hard way after a plastic one cracked on me mid-cut. The weight of the metal ones just feels better in your hand too.
